Before you begin
Prepare the current website files. If the site is already online, make a backup before changing anything. For a database driven project, keep an export and the actual connection settings.
Use the upload method and website directory specified for your service. FTP hosts and paths depend on your account and must come from verified service details or support.
Upload your website
Back up the current version
Save copies of the files and database, if used. This gives you a way back if something goes wrong.
Prepare the files
Check that the package includes application files, required images and other assets. Do not place secrets or backups in a public website directory.
Upload the project
Transfer the files using a method available for your service and place them in the website directory listed in its settings.
Connect data and check pages
If the site uses a database, configure it with the verified connection settings. Then check the homepage, internal links, images and forms.
Verify the result
- The homepage opens without errors.
- Inner pages and assets load.
- Forms and database connections work, if used.
- A working project backup is available before changing DNS.
