Before you begin
You need a registered domain and access to the service that manages its DNS records. Keep your hosting service details nearby.
Connect the domain
Get the domain settings
Find the actual DNS settings in your service details or ask support. Confirm they apply to the correct domain and service.
Update DNS at the registrar
Enter the supplied settings in the domain management service. Save existing records first, especially if the domain is used for email or other services.
Allow DNS changes to take effect
DNS updates can take time. During this period, different visitors may temporarily see different results.
Check the website
After the change takes effect, open the domain over HTTP and HTTPS and check several pages.
Verify the result
- The domain opens the intended website.
- Required email and other DNS records are still present.
- The site loads over HTTPS after the update.
